Tammy Beaumont once again showed why she is regarded as one of England's finest openers, smashing her tenth ODI century in a sensational display of grit and class against Ireland in the second ODI in Belfast on Monday.

Tammy Beaumont’s record-breaking century Powers England to massive total

Her unbeaten 150* off just 139 balls, laced with 16 fours and a six, not only guided England to a colossal total of 320/8 but also etched her name in the history books as England's leading century-maker in women’s ODIs.

Tammy Beaumont's innings was the epitome of "saving the best for last," as she exploded in the latter part of her knock. Completing her hundred off 117 balls, she tore apart Ireland’s bowling attack, racing to her next 50 in just 22 deliveries.

With this innings, Beaumont surpassed the legendary Charlotte Edwards to become England Women’s highest century scorer in ODIs, now standing third overall in the women’s game, only behind Meg Lanning and Suzie Bates.

It wasn't just a one-woman show, though. Beaumont found a steady partner in Freya Kemp (65 off 47 balls), as the duo stitched together a century stand that injected fresh momentum into England's innings.

While Kemp played her part, it was Beaumont who took the game by the scruff of the neck, ensuring England posted the highest total ever seen in Belfast in women's ODIs.

For Beaumont, this innings was more than just runs on the board. After a tough 2023, where she struggled to find her rhythm, Beaumont silenced her critics in the grandest way possible.

Ireland crumbles under pressure in record defeat

England’s bowlers ensured Ireland Women never had a sniff of the chase. In a catastrophic collapse, Ireland Women were bundled out for a paltry 45 runs in just 16.5 overs.

Only opener Una Raymond-Hoey offered some resistance with a gritty 22 off 37 balls, while the rest of the batters folded like a deck of cards, all falling for single digits.

With the win, England secured the series emphatically, but the day belonged to Tammy Beaumont, who batted like a woman possessed, piling on the misery for Ireland while making sure her name remains etched in England's cricket history.
