In a bright turn of events, Netherlands won the toss and opted to field first against Bangladesh in the do or die clash of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 tournament at the Arnos Vale Stadium, Kingstown, St Vincent.

A win here will keep them alive in the tournament, while a defeat will complicate things for both sides in qualifying for the Super Eight.

BAN vs NED: Pitch Report bShaun Pollock

"I think we're going to get some good carry. First of all, the surface is very nice and hard. There is a decent grass covering with a bit of greenness as well. This suggests that the ball is going to carry through. I believe it's going to be a better surface. There's no doubt that it will play better, and the ball will come on more than what we've seen so far in the tournament.

If I were a captain and won the toss, I would choose to bowl first. The pitch is a little unpredictable. There haven't been any T20 games here since 2013, so we don't really know what a good score is. Additionally, it's the morning game, so there might still be a bit of moisture."

BAN vs NED: Captains' Thoughts

Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh Captain): "I don't mind batting first. Looks a good wicket. But against the new ball, we have to play with caution.Rishad an exciting lad. We were struggling to get a leg-spinner in the last 10 or 15 years. But we have got one now and we are exciting to see him play. We are playing with the same XI."

Scott Edwards (Netherlands Captain): "We are gonna bowl first. I suppose not many teams really know the conditions here because there haven't been too many games or international games on it. I think our boys are really looking forward to it. You know, we've been playing some good cricket, and for us, it's just about playing four good games of cricket and giving ourselves every chance.
