India made a stunning comeback in the five-match T20I series, equalizing the series 2-2, with a thumping nine-wicket victory against West Indies at Lauderhill, Florida. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal became the star of the show by smashing their first fifties in the shortest format of the game.

WI vs IND 4th T20I: How did the battle pan out?

Indian Openers Set the Stadium Ablaze

Setting the tone for the match, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill came out all guns blazing in their chase of 178. They dispatched West Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground, with Jaiswal launching Obed McCoy for two boundaries in the first over and targeting Jason Holder for three boundaries in the third. Gill showcased his talent with two magnificent sixes and a four off Odean Smith, as India accelerated to 66/0 at the end of the powerplay.

Majestic Fifties and a Lone Fall

Keeping the momentum going, both openers reached their half-centuries in the 11th over, displaying their broad spectrum of shots. However, as India inched towards victory, Gill's aggressive intent led to his downfall, caught at deep mid-wicket off Romario Shepherd after scoring 77 off 47 balls with three fours and five sixes. Series' standout player, Tilak Varma, then teamed up with Jaiswal, ensuring a smooth sail to the finish line for India.

West Indies Wobble and Hetmyer’s Heroics

Earlier in the day, West Indies’ batting experienced a mixed bag. Kyle Mayers ignited the innings with quick boundaries and a massive six, only to be silenced by the impressive Arshdeep Singh. Singh continued his stellar performance by dismissing Brandon King for 18.

The saving grace came in the form of Shai Hope, who notched a 29-ball 45, and Shimron Hetmyer, whose scorching 61-run performance kept the Caribbeans in the hunt. They wrapped up at 178-8.
