Former captain of MI, Rohit Sharma was sent packing by Khaleel Ahmed on a four-ball duck in their first fixture of IPL 2025 against CSK. As Rohit walked back early, fans took aim at his dropping form by trolling him on social media.
The IPL 2025 season hosted a big rivalry between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23 at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. MI batted first under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav.
However, Mumbai were in for a big setback as they lost their star opener, Rohit Sharma early in the powerplay.
Rohit Sharma Trolled After Four-Ball Duck Dismissal Vs CSK
MI fans had laid their hopes on destructive opener Rohit Sharma to get the team a good start against arch-rivals CSK. However, Khaleel Ahmed’s masterclass sent the ex-skipper packing on a duck.
In the very first over of the inning, left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed bowled an inswinger to Rohit’s stumps and got the ball to angle in sharply, tempting Rohit to play an aerial flick.
However, the MI batter failed to keep it down and found Shivam Dube perfectly stationed at mid-wicket, resulting in a four-ball duck dismissal. Moreover, this marks the third time in IPL history that Khaleel has dismissed Rohit.
Not only that, with 18 ducks in his IPL career, Rohit now jointly owns the record of getting the most ducks in IPL’s history.
After an awful start, Rohit Sharma faced heat from the fans on social media as they targeted him for his abysmal form.

"In his last 66 IPL innings, Rohit Sharma has crossed 50 runs only 6 times and has been dismissed for single-digit scores 26 times. Absolutely pathetic stuff being an opener. No wonder they sacked him." - @hxns1anda
"Rohit Sharma creating history again! Most ducks in IPL: 18 and counting! 🦆🏆 Truly a record no one wanted, but he owned it like a pro!" - @academy_dinda
"In English we call it "finished." In Spanish we call it "acabado." In French we call it "finito." In India we call him "ROHIT SHARMA" - @Eesalacupnahi
"Rohit Sharma as a batsman is irrelevant in IPL, no impact at all." - @tiwarivaibhav0
Meanwhile, Khaleel breathed fire with the new ball as he also dismissed Ryan Rickelton in the third over to get MI down to 21/2 in the powerplay.
