It was another exciting day in Ranji Trophy Round-5 matches with number of top performances in display throughout the day. Let's take a quick view on some of the top moments from Day 2.

Shaw’s triple century broke multiple records as Mumbai posted a mammoth first innings score

Prithvi Shaw stole the show once again on Day 2 of the fifth Round in Ranji Trophy. Resuming on 240, his overnight score, Shaw completed his maiden triple century against Assam during the morning session on Day 2. He went onto score 379 off 383 which is now the second highest individual score in Ranji Trophy history. The 23-year-old also became the highest run-scorer in an innings for Mumbai, beating Sanjay Manjrekar’s 377 vs Hyderabad in 1991. He added 401 runs for the third wicket alongside Ajinkya Rahane, who also scored a massive 191 and Mumbai posted a mammoth 687/4 in the first innings.

Sunil Roul’s 6-fer on debut rescue Odisha against Himachal

After getting all-out for just 191 on Day 1, Odisha were struggling to keep themselves in the game on Day 2. Then comes, Sunil Kumar Roul, who is playing his debut FC game, bowled a game changing spell during the second session on Day 2. He started with the wicket of centurion Prashant Chopra and HP were reduced to 233 for 4. The 24-year-old carried his momentum with Himachal batters started to fall like a pack of cards, suffering a massive collapse from 233/3 to 258 all out and Roul finished with a figure of 6/42.

Aniketh Reddy’s 7-fer in vein as Saurashtra registered innings victory

Aniketh Reddy has been one of the rare positives in Hyderabad’s poor domestic season so far. The 22-year-old, playing his third first-class match, took his maiden five-wicket haul against Saurashtra during the morning session of Day 2. He already took three wickets late on Day 1, including the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara. With Saurashtra resuming on 222/5 on Day 2, Hyderabad needed to wrap up the innings as quickly as possible. Aniketh went on to take a 7-wicket haul, helping his side to restrict Saurashtra for 327. However, Hyderabad’s batting woes continued even in the second innings, leading them to an innings defeat against Unadkat and his men.

KS Bharat hits half century as Andhra takes control against a hapless Delhi

After scoring 203 for 3 on Day 1, Andhra continued to take the game away from Delhi on Day 2. Despite losing Hanuma Vihari and Karan Shinde early in the first session, KS Bharat alongside young all-rounder Nithish Kumar Reddy added 68 runs for the sixth wicket. KS Bharat went on to score 80 off 130. Shoaib Khan joined Reddy in the middle and added another quick 86 runs for the 7th wicket, taking Andhra total past 400. After declaring on 459/9, Reddy removed Delhi opener Ayush Badoni in the very second over late on the day. Delhi left stranded on 19 for 1 at stumps.
