It is not every day you see a 14-year-old kid walk out to open the innings in the IPL. But Rajasthan Royals decided to throw the dice and hand Vaibhav Suryavanshi his debut cap and he rose to the occasion.
Pant Trolled, Goenka Goes Viral As 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Makes Headlines
Playing against Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the teenager walked out to chase 181 run target and owned the place. First ball? Shardul Thakur steaming in. Vaibhav gave it the full swing and sent it sailing over long-off. Crowd went mad. And so did social media.
The real cherry on the cake? Every time Vaibhav hit a six, the cameraman cut straight to LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka. And fans were quick to connect the dots. Some fans stated that Goenka was already making mental notes to bench Pant and sign this kid
It was clear, every six had more than just six runs riding on it. It had Goenka’s expressions, Pant’s form and a whole lot of Twitter banter.
Rishabh Pant, who’s leading LSG, has been having a horror run. In this match too, he got out for just 3 off 9 balls. And the internet, as expected, didn’t miss a chance.
Here’s a look at how fans reacted to Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s knock and Goenka’s expressions.
"Somebody save Pant from Goenka😭😭😭" - @theamonkar

A Debut To Remember
Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s knock might have ended at 34 off 20 balls but the impact was massive. He smacked three sixes and made everyone sit up and take notice. The fact that he is the youngest player to debut in IPL history is just the icing on the cake.
And if this is what we get on debut, fans can’t wait to see what the future holds. While RR’s chase is still on, one thing’s for sure, Vaibhav has already won the internet. And as for Goenka, well, he might just be rethinking some of his team meetings.
