Sarfaraz Khan, Sachin Baby centuries highlights Day 1 of Ranji Trophy Round-6

It was a splendid Day 1 in Ranji Trophy Round-6 matches with some of the big names performing at their best. Let’s take a quick view on some of the best moments from the day.

Sarfaraz Khan hits his third century of the season

Sarfaraz Khan continued his great form with another century on Day 1 of the round-6 match against Delhi. After being asked to bat first, Mumbai had a poor start as they were 91 for four at lunch. Sarfaraz, batting at five came to the rescue and scored a brilliant century, 13th of his career. He got out after scoring 125 off 155 and took Mumbai past the 250 mark.

Sachin Baby rescues Kerala against Karnataka

Sachin Baby scored another fighting hundred, this time against Karnataka on Day 1 of the round-6 match at the St Xavier's KCA Cricket Ground in Thumba. Kerala were three down for just six runs on the board in the first session before Sachin did the rescue work once again. The left-hander went on to add 120 runs for the fourth wicket alongside Vathsal Govind and scored his fourth century of the season. Kerala are 224 for six at stumps with Sachin still unbeaten with 116 off 272.

Gujarat skittles Vidarbha for 74

Gujarat’s pace duo Chintan Gaja and Tejas Patel bagged five-wicket hauls to bowl Vidarbha out for just 74 on Day 1 of Round-6 match. After electing to bat first, Vidarbha had a horrible start with the bat as Gujarati pacers got the most out of the conditions and broke the back of Vidarbha batting. Vidarbha, with the likes of Faiz Fazal, Akshay Wadkar, Atharva Tairde and Jitesh Sharma were left clueless as both Gaja (5-31) and Tejas (5-19) finished the innings with five-wicket hauls. Gujarat ended the day with 188 for 5 and a lead of 114 in the first innings.

Agrim Tiwari's fifer help Uttarakhand to bowl Baroda out for 86

Left-arm seamer Agrim Tiwari demolished Baroda’s top-order and went on to register his second five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. After asking Baroda to bat first, Agrim proved the captain right and reduced Baroda to 19 for the loss of three wickets in his first spell. Bhargav Bhatt, who was trying to rebuild Baroda’s innings was soon removed by Agrim and Baroda got bundled out for just 86. Agrim finished with his second best figure 5 for 40 in thirteen overs.

Anmolpreet, Nehal Wadhera's tons redeem Punjab against Madhya Pradesh

It is the contest between the top two teams of Group D in Ranji Trophy. Unbeaten Madhya Pradesh asked Punjab to bat first and limited them to 47 for 4 in the first fifteen overs. Punjab were in big trouble and needed a big partnership to regain control. 

Anmolpreet Singh and Nehal Wadhera came together and took Punjab to lunch without any further damage.The duo then went on to add a mammoth 250 runs for the fifth wicket and completed their centuries as well. Anmolpreet got out for 124 but Wadhera was still there, batting on 123. After being 47 for 4 at one point, Punjab finished Day 1 with 302 for 5.
