The Delhi Capitals are currently playing against the Chennai Super Kings in the 17th macth of IPL 2025. The match is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Axar Patel won the toss ahead of the game and opted to bat first. As the Capitals walked out to bat, they made a good start, despite losing Jake Fraser-McGurk at the beginning. The second wicket partnership worked 54 runs and set up the stage for the Capitals.
When Did Sameer Rizvi Walk Out To Bat?
After the fall of the second wicket, Axar Patel walked out into the middle and played a handy knock increasing the scoring rate of the team. By the time Axar Patel departed, the Capitals looked all set to go past 200.
The blunder that DC committed at this stage was sending Sameer Rizvi. Who scored just 20 runs from 15 deliveries at a strike rate of 133.33. His inability to accelrate when it was needed the most, Rizvi brought down the momentum.
How This Was A Mistake By DC?
With Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma left to come in, the decision to send in Sameer Rizvi looked like a disaster.
Instead of sending Sameer Rizvi the correct thing would have been to send Ashutosh Sharma or Tristans Stubbs. Both the batters are in a decent form as they have shown in the previous games in the tournament. On the other hand, Rizvi walked out to bat at critical stage for the first time in the tournament and that led to drop in momentum of the team.
