Virat Kohli, on his much-awaited ODI comeback, was dismissed on a duck. In the 1st ODI vs Australia at Perth, Kohli got a thick outside edge and left the fans disappointed.

Batting first, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings. However, the former skipper edged it to slips against Josh Hazlewood and walked back on just 8 runs off 14 balls.

At no.3, modern-day great Virat Kohli walked out to bat with fans up on their feet, eager to see him in action after a 7-month-long break.

However, Virat Kohli failed to live up to fans’ expectations. Mitchell Starc pitched one up outside off, tempting Kohli into an expansive drive away from his body.

Kohli, being vulnerable to the outside off-stump line, fell into the trap. The ball found the thick outside edge and flew towards point, where Connolly dived full stretch to his left, pulling off a stunning catch.

The crowd was left stunned as India lost Virat Kohli on an 8-ball duck. Australia had 2 wickets inside the first 7 overs, and Starc once again proved why he’s one of the most dangerous bowlers with the new ball.

Meanwhile, fans on social media were disappointed with Kohli throwing away his wicket. They waited 7 months to see him back in action, that too in Australian conditions, where he tends to thrive.

However, his duck has left most supporters heartbroken, and they expressed their displeasure on the internet.

That being said, this is Virat Kohli’s first-ever ODI duck in Australia. After Rohit-Kohli, captain Shubman Gill also lost his wicket to Nathan Ellis, and with that, India were 3 down at 25 runs.

Interestingly, Axar Patel walked out to bat at no.4, and rain stopped play after 8.5 overs.
