South African openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits shared yet another cracking partnership at the top, this time unleashing 64 runs in just 7.3 overs against Scotland. Captain Wolvaardt herself made 40 of those runs from just 27 deliveries before she was done-in by Katherine Fraser.

Brits made 43 off 35 balls and navigated her team to 83-1 alongside number three Anneke Bosch around the halfway stage of the innings.

After Darcey Carter and Olivia Bell dismissed Anneke Bosch and Tazmin Brits respectively, seasoned all-rounder Marizanne Kapp smacked a swift 43 from just 24 balls to ensure a strong finish for South Africa.

Chasing 167, Scotland lost each of their top three batters by the time of reaching just 30 in 5.3 overs to Chloe Tryon and South Africa’s new ball operator Ayabonga Khaka. Tryon delivered the opening breakthrough for the Proteas with the key wicket of Sarah Bryce. Khaka got rid of Saskia Horley in the fourth over as Scotland reached a sluggish 34-3 by the end of the opening powerplay.

Nadine de Klerk also accounted for the wicket of Priyanaz Chatterji in the middle overs to reduce Scotland to 50-6 at the halfway stage of the innings.

Sune Luus pouched a sensational catch to remove Lorna Jack-Brown before Mlaba (3-12) and Nadine (2-15) mopped up the Scotland tail for just 86 to secure a huge 80-run win for South Africa.
