On Friday, Afghanistan locked horns against South Africa in the third match of Champions Trophy 2025. The two teams squared off at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, where South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first.

The Proteas, batting first, lost an early wicket of Tony de Zorzi, but rode on Ryan Rickelton's knock as the southpaw smashed his maiden ODI century in an ICC event. Rickelton looked in great touch from the first ball and brought up his hundred in 101 balls. His knock has featured seven fours and a solitary six.

Rickelton Becomes The First South African To Score Century On CT Debut

Ryan Rickelton is in solid form as he also scored 91-runs against Ireland in 2024, which was his highest ODI total until this match against Afghanistan.  Further, with the knock, Ryan has also become the first South African to smash a century on his Champions Trophy debut.

Firstly, he completed his fifty in 48 deliveries and constructed the innings carefully. Talking about the ongoing match, South Africa are 200/2 after 35 overs.

Rickelton Gets Out In A Bizarre Manner

Rashid Khan produced a stunning run-out on the 3rd ball of the 36th over, when Rickelton fell short of his crease and Rashid made a stunning throw that Rahmanullah Gurbaz collected and dislodged the bails.

Unlucky for Rickelton, he made his ground, but his bat wasn't grounded. Further, Rickelton also smashed his highest ODI score.
