In a significant development, India's star batter Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan because of injury. Pandya will not be part of India's playing XI because of a possible hamstring injury he sustained against Sri Lanka.
Hardik Pandya Suffered Injury vs Sri Lanka
The star all-rounder bowled just a single over against Sri Lanka and rushed back to the dressing room, hinting at an injury scare, probably an issue with his hamstring. Notably, KKR star Rinku Singh will play his first game of the tournament as Hardik's replacement. It is a big blow to India as Pandya has been the Men in Blue's one of the best performers against Pakistan across events.
Even before the start of the Asia Cup final, there was a lot of chatter around Pandya's injury as India's bowling coach Morne Morkel had remarked that a decision would be taken on the day of the final. However, unfortunately, Hardik has failed to recover in time from his injury.
Suryakumar Yadav Provides Update On Hardik Pandya
During the toss, Suryakumar Yadav provided an update on Hardik Pandya and stated that the MI captain misses out because of a niggle.
"Unfortunately, Hardik misses out, Arshdeep and Harshit miss out as well. Rinku, Shivam Dube and Bumrah come in," remarked Suryakumar Yadav during the toss speaking to Ravi Shastri.
It will be the first match in the tournament that Hardik will miss in Asia Cup 2025. Talking about the ongoing match, the Men in Blue have won the toss and elected to field first, which was the pattern in the first two matches against Pakistan as well for India.
