After witnessing nail-biting contests for more than a month, we are finally going to witness the ultimate battle, as Multan Sultans will take on the defending champions Lahore Qalandars in the final of the ongoing Pakistan Super League competition. The clash will take place at the iconic Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.

Team Preview: Multan Sultans

The journey of Multan Sultans in PSL 2023 has been nothing short of exceptional. After suffering a gut-wrenching one-run defeat in the tournament opener, the Sultans exhibited their prowess, securing four successive clinical victories.

Although they made it up by losing some games thereafter, they peaked at the right time to emerge triumphant in their last three fixtures, including the qualifier 1.

While skipper Mohammad Rizwan has led them from the front with the bat, the contributions from Rilee Rossouw and Kieron Pollard have been priceless, to say the least. On the bowling front, the likes of Ihsanullah and Abbas Afridi have made the opponent batters dance to their tunes.

To the Sultans' credit, they defeated the Qalandars in the qualifier and would look to replicate the same in the final tonight.

Team Preview: Lahore Qalandars

On the other hand, Lahore Qalandars, as expected dominated their counterparts, acquiring the top position in the group-stage points table with seven victories in ten outings. They were clinical right from the word go, winning seven of their first nine fixtures.

Despite losing two successive games, including the qualifier 1, the Qalandars bounced back strongly in the eliminator 2 last night, steamrolling Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi by four wickets.

Although Fakhar Zaman, the Qalandars' top-scorer, had a dream start to the tournament, he looks completely out of touch at the moment. The likes of Sam Billings and Abdullah Shafique have also blown hot and cold in the latter stage of the tournament.

So, skipper Shaheen Afridi would expect his core players to come out of the slump and step up in the all-important final.

Pitch Report: The surface in Lahore has been flat and favourable for the batters this season. Most of the games have been high-scoring, with the teams batting first emerging victorious on seven out of eight occasions. Also, considering it will be a high-pressure game, we expect the toss-winner to bat first and put a mammoth total on the board.
