Will Jacks' blistering half-century and captain Wayne Parnell's brilliance with the ball helped Pretoria Capitals clinch a 52-run bonus point victory against MI Cape Town at Newlands on Monday.

Jacks dazzles with a stunning half-century

After being sent to bat first, the Pretoria Capitals' dynamic opening duo Will Jacks and Kusal Mendis, took the hosts to the sword.

Both batters took the attack to the opposition bowlers. Jacks, who is the highest run-getter in the tournament, smashed another half-century in the season, this one coming in just 19 deliveries.

The Englishman didn't spare anyone as Rabada and Archer were taken to the cleaners.

While on the other end, Mendis kept taking calculated risks. Jacks and Mendis forged an 88-run partnership for the first wicket to torment the home side.

Rashid made up for his dropped catch with the ball as he broke the first wicket stand by dismissing Mendis for 29 off 19 balls.

Odean Smith was brought onto the attack, and he removed the dangerous Jacks.

Rashid then trapped Rilee Rossouw LBW for one, and Jofra Archer removed Senuran Muthusamy. The visitors picked up four wickets for just 16 runs from over 6 to 10.

Archer struck twice in the 18th over as he dismissed Theunis de Bruyn for 36 and Wayne Parnell for one as Capitals were eventually bowled out for a mammoth total of 182 for 8.

Capitals bowlers rips through MI Cape Town

The Capitals' pacers didn't repeat the same mistake that MI Cape Town did in the first innings. Instead, they took the pace off in every delivery and looked to bowl into the surface.

Ryan Rickelton was caught at mid-off for 11 off the bowling of Eathan Bosch to start the fall of wickets. Teen sensation Dewald Brevis and number 3 Sam Curran put on a 34-run stand before Curran was bamboozled by Adil Rashid for 22.

Brevis then shared a 47-run partnership with Rassie van der Dussen. It felt like Brevis was batting on a different wicket as compared to other batters as he kept finding the boundaries.

He smashed four fours and three sixes before being bluffed by Anrich Nortje's slower ball and departed for 46 off 30 balls.

A mini-collapse occurred shortly after Brevis' departure as Will Jacks got the wicket of George Linde for six, and Rashid saw the back of Grant Roelofsen (4).

After that, Pretoria bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals to sign off the game with a 52-run win.
