Ahead of Match 21 of T20 World Cup 2024 on Monday, South Africa captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.

Even though Markram's decision was a surprise, the inspirations potentially came after India's nail-biting win over Pakistan batting first less than 24 hours ago at this very venue.

While South Africa fielded an unchanged XI for the third time in a row, Bangladesh made one change, bringing in wicket-keeper Jaker Ali in the playing XI.


Notably, this will be a battle of table toppers in Group A. While South Africa are placed at the top, with two wins in two matches, Bangladesh are just behind them, having defeated Sri Lanka in their only fixture.
