The Marnus Labuschagne fever appears to have gripped the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 season, even though the senior Australian batter is currently engaged in the Ashes series against England. During match number five of the BBL, seasoned all-rounder and Melbourne Stars veteran Marcus Stoinis channeled his inner Labuschagne while bowling at Hobart Hurricanes’ Tim David at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Bowling to David in the final over of the powerplay, Stoinis laughingly yelled ‘NO RUN’ twice after collecting the ball in his follow through.

Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis mimicked Marnus Labuschagne to create a hilarious BBL moment in match number five of the 2025-26 season at the MCG. After dismissing Hobart Hurricanes’ Nikhil Chaudhary in the sixth over of the innings, and his first of the match, Stoinis bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to newcomer Tim David.

David jabbed the ball back towards the bowler, with Stoinis safely collecting it in his follow-through and laughingly yelling:

“No run! No run!”

For the unversed, Marnus Labuschagne popularized the ‘No run’ chanting while playing for Australia a few years ago against Team India. On occasions, the cricketer yelled ‘no run’ after safely negotiating a delivery.

Marcus Stoinis, meanwhile, bowled three overs in the game, picking up the wickets of Nikhil Chaudhary and half-centurion Ben McDermott at an expense of just 18 runs. The experienced all-rounder also bludgeoned a fiery 31-ball 62* to blaze Melbourne Stars to a comprehensive eight-wicket win in the run-chase with 24 balls to spare.

Under the leadership of Marcus Stoinis, the Melbourne Stars team is currently ranked at the top of the BBL 2025-26 points table.
