It happened to be Sydney Sixers' day as they thumped Melbourne Stars by 6-wickets in the 31st match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23.

Vince's 91 brings misery for Melbourne

The Sixers remained ahead throughout the run-chase as their opener James Vince came out undefeated, sealing the deal with his 91 runs.

Melbourne could never gain the momentum as Sydney struck partnerships for every wicket, aiming to take the game deep.

It boiled down to 11 needing off the last over with Jordan Silk bringing down the equation to two from three balls as his six down the ground looked to have made it all a formality.

However, Silk got caught behind on the very next delivery, but veteran Daniel Christian smashed a boundary, winning the game for his side.

Stoinis flexes his muscles

Although it has been a quiet season for Marcus Stoinis, his 28-ball 52 today inspired the Stars towards the total of 173 runs.

Opting to bowl first, Sydney were on their toes throughout as Melbourne moved at steady run-rate, courtesy of Thomas Rogers whose 48-run knock highlighted the first half of the innings.

While Sean Abbott ruptured the hosts' middle-order with his three-for, Stoinis delivered the goods as his half-century helped his team finish at 173/5.

Melbourne Stars - 173/5 (20)
