The race for the Orange and Purple Cap has intensified as bowlers from all ten teams are fighting it out to win the coveted award. The Purple Cap signifies how important the bowler has been in the tournament and how he has bamboozled the batters with his magnificent skills.

Prior to the IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals, Noor Ahmad, the CSK spinner was the holder of the Purple Cap, but now he has been surpassed by the DC pacer.

Mitchell Starc, the DC bowler has now overtaken CSK spinner and has become the new holder of the Purple Cap with 8 wickets to his name.

Starc, before the game against SRH had 3 wickets to his name as the pacer bagged 3 crucial scalps in the LSG match. However, he continued the red-hot form and bamboozled the SRH batters to claim a five-wicket haul. This was the first time a DC pacer bagged a fifer in IPL.

Starc in 2 matches has 8 wickets, with an average of just 9.63. SRH were considered the most dangerous batting unit but he dismantled the top-order with utmost ease.

Noor Ahmad occupies the second spot as the CSK spinner has been a lone warrior for his team and has been helped by the spin-friendly Chepauk deck. LSG seamer, Shardul Thakur unexpectedly occupies the third spot. He was unsold in the auction, but injuries to key LSG pacers meant that the franchise roped in Thakur at the last moment and he repaid the reward with 6 wickets so far.
