In a crucial knockout match, Naveen-ul-Haq silenced his critics and bagged 4 crucial wickets to derail Mumbai Indians' momentum at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The five-time IPL champions started on an aggressive note, but lost the plot in the middle overs as they finish on 182 for 8 the board.

Solid Start from MI batters

Krunal Pandya, the LSG skipper had an out of the box thinking as he bowled the first over against the duo of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. The decision eventually back-fired as both Rohit and Kishan targeted the opposition skipper and never allowed him to settle in.

Both the batters dealt a couple of lusty blows that pressed the panic button in the LSG camp.

LSG missed a trick by not bringing a spinner in the initial few overs and allowed the MI batters to settle in properly. But the introduction of Naveen-ul-Haq changed the equation.

Naveen silences his critics

The Afghan seamer was brought in to break the partnership and he didn't disappoint and got the all-important wicket of Rohit Sharma for 11. Ishan Kishan followed his skipper back to the pavilion - this time the chief destroyer was Yash Thakur.

An in-form SKY joined hands with Cameron Green as the carnage began. The two batters took the LSG attack to the cleaners and it started raining sixes. The two batters added 66 for the third wicket, and once again Naveen was brought into bring LSG back in the contest.

He deceived Suryakumar with a slower delivery to sent him back for 33 and followed it up with a well deceptive slower ball to knock over Cameron Green.

Two quick wickets changed the complexion of the game, but the young gun, Tilak Varma alongside Tim David started the repair work. While Tim David struggled for runs on a slowish pitch, Tilak showed his class and fought a brilliant battle as he churned out boundaries at regular intervals.

However, it was the Naveen-ul-Haq day as he came back for his last over and got the prized wicket of Tilak Varma with yet another slower ball.

MI's impact player, Nehal Wadhera (23 off 12) proved his worth once again as he played the perfect finisher's role and steered MI to a winning total on this track.
