Kuldeep Yadav struck thrice in his four-over spell against West Indies in the all-important third T20I in Providence. The ace spinner dismissed well-set batters Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King in quick succession, and got the wicket of Johnson Charles at the start of his spell.

Through the course of Yadav’s latest three-fer, the cricketer has now achieved a rare record for Team India in all T20Is.

Kuldeep Yadav scales numerous records with tight spell

Kuldeep Yadav removed Pooran and King in the same over and also got Charles to take a three-wicket haul in his comeback game. In doing so, the 28-year-old completed 50 wickets in his T20I career, achieving the feat in just his 30th appearance.

Yadav has now become the fastest Indian ever to get to 50 T20I wickets, surpassing his teammate Yuzvendra Chahal (34 matches).

Moreover, the Uttar Pradesh-based cricketer also became the sixth fastest bowler in the world, and third among member nations, to complete 50 wickets in the format. Among Test playing countries, the only bowlers to achieve 50 wickets in quicker time than him are Sri Lankan spin wizard Ajantha Mendis (26 matches) and Ireland’s pace machine Mark Adair (28 matches).

Additionally, the seasoned Indian campaigner bettered spin veterans Imran Tahir and Rashid Khan, who reached the landmark figure in 31 matches each.

Overall, Kuldeep Yadav has collected his wickets at a striking average of just 14.28. He also holds 34 Test and 141 ODI wickets in his tally.
