In the latest development, 1355 players from all around the globe have registered their names for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction, set to take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. As expected, Cameron Green, who previously played for RCB and MI, has registered himself, while Steve Smith has also put forward his name.

Venkatesh Iyer, who was released by the KKR during the retention deadline day, will also headline the list as several big names will take part in the one-day event set to take place this month.

According to the Cricbuzz report, even Josh Inglis, who was unlikely to take part in the next IPL season, has registered himself and the players from Australia, England, South Africa, and India dominate the list.

Big Indian names register for IPL mini auction

Apart from Green, Venkatesh Iyer, and Josh Inglis, several top Indian names have also put forward their names in the IPL mini auction.

Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Deep, Deepak Hooda, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Mavi, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Sen, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tripathi, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav the big players who could fetch money in the upcoming marquee event.

Steve Smith, the surprise name in the list

Of all the names registered, the name of Steve Smith comes as a surprise to everyone. The Aussie batter last featured in the IPL during the 2021 season, and since then, has gone unsold as the teams have opted for more attacking-minded batters.

However, his recent stats have been top-notch in the BBL. Last season was special for the Aussie Test star as he became the player with the joint-most tons in the premium Australian competition, but his reputation as a Test batter could hinder his chances of getting a buyer in the auction.
