In a shocking turn of events, England, who were the T20 World Cup champions in the previous edition, could be out of the ongoing edition if rain continues to pour at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, and does not allow any play against Namibia in Match 34 of the competition.
As things stand, Australia have already qualified for Group B, with six points at an NRR of +3.580. Scotland, meanwhile, are currently placed second position, with five points at +2.164. England, on the other hand, are just behind them, with three points at +3.081.
If England versus Namibia fixture gets washed out, England will finish with four points, one lesser than Scotland's. In that case, England will be knocked out of the tournament, while Australia and Scotland will progress to the Super 8 phase.
Meanwhile, at the time of writing this (10:23 PM IST), the shower has been on and off in Antigua, making the lives tougher for the English men, who had a thrashing victory over Oman just a couple of nights ago.
Namibia, on the other hand, are already out of the tournament, as they are playing for a consolation victory here.
