In a remarkable turn of events, experienced New Zealand domestic batter Joe Carter has recorded the highest individual score by a visiting batter against India A.
Carter achieved this phenomenal feat during New Zealand A's ongoing red-ball fixture against their Indian counterparts. Coming at number three, the stylish right-handed batter hit a flamboyant 305-ball 197 and surpassed Aiden Markram's 161 to register his name in the record books.
However, unfortunately, he was stumped and fell just three runs short of becoming the first-ever batter to hit a double hundred against India A in their own backyard.
After opting to bat first, New Zealand A got off to a horrible start, losing openers, Chad Bowes and Rachin Ravindra in quick succession. However, Carter slammed a memorable ton, rescuing the visitors from such a disastrous position. His knock, glittered with 26 gorgeous fours and three gigantic sixes, propelled New Zealand A to a massive total of 400 in their first innings.
In reply, India A are at 156 for one at stumps on day 2.
