In the ongoing IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi international stadium, the visitors have got off to a flying start. Notably, PBKS, batting first, smashed the joint-fastest fifty of the tournament and are looking to put a big total on the board.

Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya got off to a flying start and Shreyas Iyer followed it up with a brilliant fifty, his fastest half-century in IPL history. Meanwhile, Nehal Wadhera was also assisting Iyer well, but fell prey to debutant Eshan Malinga.

Notably, on the 3rd ball of the 14th over, Malinga bowled a brilliant seam-up delivery and Wadhera made some room for himself, but missed the ball. It eventually hit his pad and the umpire raised his finger.

Wadhera walked off the field without any DRS and returned to the pavilion with a low score of 27 (22). However, the replay showed that Wadhera was not-out as the ball missed the stumps.

Iyer's Role In That Dismissal

It was a crucial moment in the match and a successful review could have resulted in more runs for Punjab. However, attention turned towards Iyer, who was at the non-striker's end and didn't advice Wadhera to take a review.

Further, it was not the first time in IPL this season that Iyer was at the non-striker's end and didn't advice a PBKS batter to take a review. It is worth noting that a similar situation occurred in PBKS's opening match of IPL 2025 as Glenn Maxwell was wrongly given LBW out and Iyer at that time too failed to take notice and advice Maxwell for a review.

Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, PBKS are 192/4 after 16.3 overs.
