Ashton Turner played the innings of his life and guided Perth Scorchers to yet another finals of the Big Bash League tournament on Saturday.

Turner remained unbeaten on 84 and it was his innings which proved to be the difference maker on a day when other struggled for runs.

Silk-Henriques take Sixers to 151

Credit to Scorchers bowlers who bowled at tight lines and lengths and run-scoring became difficult for Sydney Sixers. Josh Philippe departed for just 1 on the board and even the in-form Steve Smith couldn't score big and was sent back home for a 16-ball 18.

This was not your usual Steve Smith who struggled for runs, and barring a six over fine leg, looked a pale shadow of himself. He was dropped early in the innings, but the Aussie batter was not able to capitalise on it.

With the scoreboard looking at 42 for 3 at one stage, Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk started the rescue act. For a while it looked as if the duo were batting on a different surface altogether. Silk slammed a quick-fire 47 and in the process also went past the 2000-run mark in BBL.

Henriques gave the late flourish and his gritty 43-ball 58 helped the Sixers to breach the 150-run mark.

Turner the game-changer

As he has done it so often for the Scorchers, Ashton Turner was the star with the bat once again. Just like the Sixers, the team from Perth lost three early wickets and were staring down the barrel. But Cameron Bancroft (47 off 40), steadied the sinking ship and Turner put the icing on the cake.

Turner was dropped a number times and that didn't help Sixers' cause as they lost the momentum in the middle overs. Turner blasted a magnificent 84 runs and manipulated the field to perfection.

In the end, the target of 151 looked too small for the champion Scorchers side as they raced away to yet another finals.
