Australia- 183/5 in 59 overs [Usman Khawaja 56* (159), Cameron Green 22* (54); Stuart Broad 3/42 (16), Moeen Ali 1/50 (13)] require another 98 runs with 5 wickets in hand

Australian opener Usman Khawaja once again stood like a wall against a defiant English attack in the post-afternoon session of the 5th and final day at Edgbaston to reduce the visitors' target to just 98 runs.

Starting the day at 109/3, night-watchman Scott Boland survived the initial burst from the English seamers, but his vigil was eventually ended by Stuart Broad at the score of 20 (40).

Broad peppered Boland with short-pitch stuff to push him onto the backfoot before pitching one to entice a feather from his bat.

England were pretty disciplined in the first hour as they kept the dangerous Travis Head in check by employing the tried-and-tested short-pitch ploy against the southpaw.

Head tried to counter-attack after the 1st hour, and while he did struck a few fours- 3- his knock was eventually ended by off-spinner Moeen Ali, who squarred him up and induced an outside edge, which was easily gobbled by Joe Root.

However, the ever-so-unflappable Khawaja continued to bat like a monk.

The left-handed opener (56* off 159) brought up his 2nd 50+ score of the match, and along with all-rounder Cameron Green (22* off 54), he proceeded to add 40 unbeaten runs for the 6th wicket to bring down the required target to 98 runs.
