It is time for the Ashes 2023! The stage is set at Edgbaston and England have won the toss and elected to bat first. The pitch is on the flatter side and England would be looking to put up a good score on the board.

Talking about the teams, England declared their playing XI two days ago and have decided to go with a batting heavy team with Moeen Ali being the lone-spinner capable of scoring big runs. The pacers in the team are James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson while Ben Stokes has also declared himself fit to bowl.

Australia, on the other hand, have gone with the pace trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Scott Boland. Mitchell Starc has been dropped after Boland produced a heroic effort against India in WTC Final. Hazlewood is also back after a long injury gap and would be looking to make an impact against a English batting line-up that would be looking to dominate.

Australia Playing XI: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith (vc), Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland, Josh Hazlewood

England Playing XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Moeen Ali, Ollie Robinson, Stuart Broad, James Anderson

Australia are coming into this game on the back of a WTC Final win over India while England have been dominant under Ben Stokes in the last year or so. This is an epic test for both the teams and it promises to be a cracking series.
