Openers Sai Sudharssan and Shubman Gill started off with a 114-run stand for the first wicket, where Sudharsan scored a brilliant 52, while Gill was magnificent with 90 (off 55 balls). They were very well supported by the one-down batter, Jos Buttler, with his 23-ball 41*. The Titans ended up scoring 198 after the end of their 20 overs. They were brilliant right from the start and didn't give Kolkata many chances, as the target of 199 looked way too big after the end of their first innings.
The Kolkata side started off rather poorly, as they lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the very first over, courtesy of Mohammed Siraj, who trapped him in front. Sunil Narine could only muster 17. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane fought back with a brilliant 50 but was soon dismissed, as the rest of the batting lineup faltered. Kolkata could only get to 159 by the end of their 20 overs. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan picked two wickets each, while giving away 25 runs apiece in their four overs. In the end, the Titans won the game comfortably by 39 runs, as Kolkata gave up too easily and early.
