So, this concludes our live blog coverage for the day. It was indeed a great game of cricket and we promise you to be back with some real-time amazing discussions in our upcoming blogs. Till then, take care!

A magnificently bowled yorker and Dhoni could dig it out only for a single! The legend plays a memorable cameo, but RR have the last laugh. Sandeep Sharma is the hero. What a game of cricket we have had. It couldn't have been more competitive than this. Sharma holds his nerves to script a close three-run win for the inaugural champions.

Five needed off the last ball, Will we see the first super over of the season or Dhoni will do a Dhoni?

Six needed off two, Jadeja is on strike. What's gonna Sandeep bowl? It is a yorker and he nails it. Only a single for Jadeja.

AAANDDD Dhoni hits Sharma for two successive SIXXXES!!! The man still has it in him. What an unbelievable cameo this has been. It's CSK's game to lose now. Chepauk goes berserk, the atmosphere is electrifying!!

Sanju Samson has trusted Sandeep Sharma to bowl the final over. Two wides followed by a much needed dot ball.

A six to finish the final over and CSK need 21 off the final six balls to win this game. Jadeja's clean striking has breathed life into CSK's dead hopes.

Jason Holder comes back into the attack and he has started with two brilliant deliveries. But Jadeja decides to break the shackles as he smashes a four and a six. The game is still alive folks!!

Yessss, he understands it and smashes Zampa for a huge six, MAHI MAAR RAHA HAI ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Dhoni hits his first boundary!! On the pads and he whacks it back past the square leg for a four. Your team needs a few more of those, MS!

Edged and Samson couldn't hold onto it. Chahal's sensational spell comes to an end, the target is going out of CSK's reach.

59 required in 4 overs. CSK have their most reliable finishing duo in the middle. Can Dhoni and Jadeja pull off a heist here? Here comes Chahal for his final over.

Ashwin finishes his spell with exceptional figures: 4-0-25-2, a magnificent effort from the spin maestro

Noooooo... You will be devastated if you are a CSK fan. Conway miscues a lofted shot and he has to go back to the hut. However, the crowd starts cheering as their beloved Thala MS Dhoni enters the ground.

Conway is swinging hard and has completed his fifty. He has looked rusty, but he is a player of the highest calibre. So, CSK would like him to bat through and finish the game.

Another one bites the dust!! A magnificent catch from Hetmyer and Chahal removes impact player Ambati Rayudu. The game is slipping out of CSK's hands.

A brilliant catch from Sandeep Sharma puts an end to Moeen Ali's brief stay. With this, Zampa gets rid of Moeen for the fifth time.

Stat Alert: Adam Zampa has dismissed Moeen Ali four times in 44 deliveries across formats.

Debashish: The required run rate goes past 11๐Ÿ‘€ Are we heading for another nail-biter? I think we are.

Chahal has been brought back. Matchup alert: Moeen vs Chahal in T20Is: 14 balls, 21 runs, 2 dismissals

Surprise, Surprise! It was missing the stumps ๐Ÿ‘€ Had Dube reviewed it, he would've survived!

And Ashwin takes his revenge! A beautifully bowled slider catches Shivam Dube in the crease plumb in front of the stumps. He is a God against left-handers, I tell you.

Appeal for a stumping, but Dube has done remarkably well to keep his feet grounded in time. And he swats the next delivery with brute force for a four. He has made his intentions clear. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

At the halfway mark, CSK are 80 for 2 in 10 overs. They need 96 more runs, while I see severe amount of dew in the outfield.

Huge appeal and the umpire has raised his finger! Ajinkya Rahane decides against the review and Ravi Ashwin strikes for Rajasthan Royals! A magnificent 19-ball 31 cameo from Rahane comes to an end.

In the airrr and falls in no man's land. Zampa could've dismissed Rahane twice in two deliveries, but luck has favoured the Mumbai lad. And he steps down and plays a glorious cover drive for four, adding salt to Zampa's injuries.

Fun fact: Adam Zampa hasn't dismissed Conway and Rahane in his T20 career.

Debashish: The wicket seems to have become a bit better to bat because of the dew. The ball is coming on to the bat nicely. The spinners have found it difficult to grip the wet ball. Tough time ahead for the Royals, I reckon. I can also see Holder trying out the cutters, as he doesn't want to offer pace to the batters.

First sign of aggression from the southpaw as he smashes Chahal for a glorious boundary. 50 up for CSK! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Conway has taken his time, but CSK have raced to 45 for 1 in the power play. Rahane looks rock-solid in the middle.

In the air and dropped! Tough chance, but it's Conway who has been put down.

Two boundaries in Holder's over and CSK are 26 for 1 in 4 overs. It's time for some spin, as Adam Zampa is getting ready to bowl the fifth over. ๐Ÿ‘€

Jason Holder comes into the attack. He has dismissed Rahane once, conceding 37 runs in T20 cricket.

The hero of the last match, Ajinkya Rahane has joined Conway in the middle. Can he bail his team out of trouble?

In the airrrr and Gaikwad departs! Huge wicket for Rajasthan Royals and it's Sandeep Sharma who has struck. A great start with the ball for the visiting team.

Meanwhile, Adam Zampa has substituted Jos Buttler as the impact player. Considering the track's conduciveness for spin bowling, we reckon the Australian tweaker could certainly have an impact on the game tonight.

Sharma targets the pads and Gaikwad hits the first boundary for CSK. End of the 1st over and the hosts are 7 for none. Kuldeep Sen to bowl his first over in this IPL from the other end.

We are back for the chase. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway to open for CSK and Sandeep Sharma to open the bowling for RR. It's going to be an interesting battle, as the target of 176 could be tricky to chase on this track.

Hetmyer hit a few lusty blows but some smart bowling from Tushar Deshpande restricts RR to 175 for 8 in 20 overs.

Dhruv Jurel has been caught, but the umpire has sent it to upstairs to check if it was above the waist height. And Jurel has been declared out!

And finally Hetmyer manages to dispatch a few into the stands. Can he ensure a fitting finish for RR?

And he strikes!!! MSD, what a genius tactician! He lures Buttler by bringing Moeen back and it pays off. It's just magical. Hats off, Thala!

A gamble from MSD, brings Moeen back into the attack and this time he will bowl to a well-set Buttler.

Milestone alert: Jos Buttler has completed his fifty ๐Ÿ‘ He continues to be the most vital cog in RR's batting lineup.

Meanwhile, Singh has taken his revenge, sends Ashwin back to the dugout. At halfway mark, RR are 135 for 4. In comes Shimron Hetmyer, the powerhouse from the Caribbean.

Homeboy Ravichandran Ashwin changes his gears, hits two back-to-back sixes off Avinash Singh! Clean striking from Anna ๐Ÿ”ฅ He has raced to 30; what a cameo this has been.

Moeen Ali has had a forgettable day on the field tonight. After dropping two catches, he throws the ball waywardly, as Ashwin survives a runout.

Debashish: Jadeja comes for his final over and I think these two batters will try to play him out safely. Meanwhile, Buttler understands he should bat through and he is focusing on the same.

Milestone alert: Ravindra Jadeja has completed 200 wickets in T20s. What a fabulous contributor he has been for CSK.

Debashish: I feel RR should've sent Shimron Hetmyer now. He could've neutralised Ravindra Jadeja, who looks in rhythm. Hetmyer vs left-arm off spinners in T20s: 182 runs, Avg- 91, SR- 134.8

Another catch is dropped and Moeen Ali is the culprit yet again! R Ashwin, who has been promoted to number 5, gets a lifeline.

In comes RR captain, Sanju Samson. But Jadeja makes sure he goes back with disappointment written all over his face. What a beautiful delivery and Samson has been castled with the utmost precision. CSK have stormed their way through to the game and the Chepauk crowd goes berserk.

Sir Jadeja strikes! Padikkal is finally gone after playing a brilliant cameo! He tries to dispatch it into the stands but finds the fielder.

And he hammmers Moeen for two maximums as we speak. The English legend has completed 3000 T20 runs as well.

After Jadeja's 11-run over, Dhoni has introduced Moeen Ali into the attack. His battle with Buttler will be interesting. Buttler vs Moeen Ali in T20s: 25 balls, 41 runs, 1 dismissal

Probuddho: He can bowl five wides and take a wicket in the very next delivery. Just Sir Jadeja things. You never know. ๐Ÿ‘€

Debashish: Ravindra Jadeja comes into the attack. Can he provide CSK a breakthrough here?

After a cautious start, the Royals batters have started unleashing themselves. Boundaries are flowing in the last few deliveries. So, despite losing a wicket, the visitors have got a really good start. We are done with the power play, RR are 57 for 1.

Meanwhile, Buttler decides to break the shackles and hammers a beautifully timed six. First of the many, I guess.

Padikkal has been dropped!! Moeen Ali, what have you done? Sharp chance, but catches like these should be taken at the highest level.

Debashish: Surprise, Devdutt Padikkal has been promoted to number three. I reckon it's a good call for two reasons. Firstly, Padikkal thrives in power play and secondly, it will help RR maintain a Left-Right combination.

In the airrrr and gone! Tushar Deshpande draws the first blood for CSK! No party for Jaiswal tonight, as he goes back for an eight-ball 10. RR have suffered an early setback.

Jaiswal smashes two successive boundaries. A brilliant cut short to begin the proceedings.

And Rajasthan Royals' deadly opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler have entered the middle. Akash Singh will open the bowling for CSK. Lets's go!

Here are the playing XIs of both teams

The coin favours MS Dhoni and CSK will bowl first. They have two changes, Moeen Ali and Maheesh Theekshana replace Dwaine Pretorius and Mitchell Santner.

It's toss time folks!

MS Dhoni felicitated on his 200th IPL game s CSK captain ๐Ÿ‘

The inaugural champions are also ready to neutralise 'The Dhoni effect' ๐Ÿ‘€

Chennai Super Kings will play their second home game of the season and as it seems they are prepared to give their all and maintain their winning streak.

Notably, this will be MS Dhoni's 200th IPL match as CSK's captain. What an absolute legend he has been for the franchise over the years!

Both the teams have faced each other 26 times, with the Super Kings having the upper hand with 15 victories over the Royals. So, can RR reduce the deficit tonight? Only time will tell.

This is Debashis Sarangi and I'll be taking you through this exciting battle between two formidable outfits.

The IPL caravan moves to Chennai, as hosts Chennai Super Kings are set to take on Rajasthan Royals in the 17th group-stage fixture of the tournament tonight. Both teams emerged victorious in their respective previous games, so, we can expect a cracking contest, as they will look to sustain their winning run.
