Four-time winners, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) enjoy a massive fan base countrywide. Led by a charismatic skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK sits at the third position on the points table (after 26 games) in the 2023 edition.

Let’s take a look at CSK’s player list for the 2023 season:

In what could be his last IPL, MS Dhoni would like to add another feather to his cap as a skipper. One can feel ‘Captain Cool’s’ enigma from the kind of support CSK receives in away games.

Dhoni’s finishing touches still attract a large crowd, with the latter’s ‘Dhoni Dhoni’ chants reverberating throughout the stadium.

Ravindra Jadeja (All Rounder)

With his left-arm spin and ability to deal a few lusty blows in the lower middle order, Ravindra Jadeja is an integral part of the CSK squad. Ahead of the 2022 season, CSK retained him for 16 crores.

Mitchell Santner  (All Rounder)

CSK retained Mitchell Santner for 1.90 crores for the 2023 season. The Kiwi allrounder becomes an alternative to Ravindra Jadeja in the CSK squad. Santner has been a regular member of the CSK squad since 2018, and he has contributed significantly to the team's success with his versatile skills on the field.

Moeen Ali (All Rounder)

CSK boasts an enviable list of all-rounders, with Moeen Ali being one of them. The player from England bowls off-spin and plays in the top/middle-order for the ‘Whistle Podu’ gang.

Ruturaj Gaikwad won the Orange Cap in IPL 2021 and has been a strong pillar in the top order for CSK. For being the highest run-getter in 2021, he earned his national call-up in July 2021.

Ajinkya Rahane (Batter)

CSK bought the services of experienced campaigner Ajinkya Rahane for 50 Lakhs to add stability to the top order. CSK is his sixth IPL team and the batter is likely to retire with this squad.

Ambati Rayudu (Batter)

Ambati Rayudu has been a vital cog in the middle order for CSK over the years. He is likely to be the one brought in as an impact player in this year’s IPL.

Dwaine Pretorius (All Rounder)

In the absence of the retired Dwayne Bravo, Pretorius becomes a decent death-over bowling option for CSK. However, the limit on overseas players may see him warm the bench.

Shivam Dube (All Rounder)

Shivam Dube's use of the long handle allowed him to be retained by CSK for 4 Crores. Working wonders for Dhoni-led team, Shivam Dube played an aggressive innings, scoring 52 runs from just 27 balls with an impressive strike rate of 192.

He hit 2 fours and 5 towering sixes, one of which was particularly noteworthy as it traveled a distance of 111 meters, making it the second-largest six hit in the ongoing IPL 2023 tournament after RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis.

Ben Stokes (All Rounder)

Ben Stokes became richer by 16.25 crores after the IPL auction in 2023. The English allrounder strengthens an already strong batting line-up. Stokes will play under Dhoni's leadership for the second time in the IPL as he featured for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant.

Matheesha Pathirana (Bowler)

Matheesha Pathirana's uncanny semblance to Lasith Malinga's bowling action makes him an exciting fast bowling prospect for CSK.

Maheesh Theekshana (Bowler)

Another player from Sri Lanka who can set the stage on fire, Theekshana is a brilliant spin option for CSK. With his off-breaks, carrom ball, seam-up and other variations, Theekshana will look to bamboozle the opposition.

Deepak Chahar (Bowler)

Deepak Chahar's utility lies in making full use of the Powerplay overs with his accurate swing bowling. Moreover, he is a handy bat lower down the order.
