Indian Stars Picked up in The Hundred 2023 Women's Draft
Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana to play in The Hundred [Twitter]
The Hundred 2023 Women's draft took place last evening and featured a plethora of cricketers up for grabs. Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana were the only two Indians who were snapped up by franchises and will feature in the upcoming season of the 100-ball tournament.
The Mumbai Indians captain, Kaur, who played for the Manchester Originals, will now turn up for the Trent Rockets, who have players like Natalie Sciver-Brunt, Alana King, and Lizelle Lee as her teammates.
Mandhana will once again play for the Southern Brave, who picked the Indian opener as their second pick. The Royal Challenger Bangalore skipper will team up with the likes of Lauren Bell, Danni Wyatt, Chloe Tryon, and Anya Shrubsole amongst others.
Interestingly, the inaugural season of The Hundred 2021 Women saw as many as five Indian players participate.
The Kaur-led Mumbai Indians will be in action tonight as they take on Alyssa Healy-captained UP Warriorz in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 Eliminator.
Mandhana, who was leading RCB, finished second-last in the points table with 2 wins and six losses.
