On Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board has 'clarified' the position taken by Chairman Najam Sethi regarding holding the Asia Cup at a 'neutral' venue instead of Pakistan.

As per a media talk in Rawalpindi/Islamabad which happened on Thursday, Najam Sethi stated that he had briefed the media on the hybrid model which was presented to the ACC officials for the Asia Cup.

As per a press release by PCB: “This proposal - to play India’s matches at a neutral venue and the rest in Pakistan - is under discussions within the ACC."

“At no stage during Thursday’s media interaction, did I give any reference to the ICC or made any remarks on the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which is scheduled in October. This matter has not been mooted or discussed at any ICC forum so far," the release added.

The Press Release stated that PCB is disappointed with how a leading English newspaper has misinterpreted Najam Sethi's comments and gave an impression that PCB's hybrid model was presented and discussed with the ICC, which is factually incorrect.

At the moment, the sole priority of PCB is to have a conversation with ACC, regarding the hosting of the upcoming Asia Cup, and the World Cup 2023 is not in the minds of the Pakistan board.
