It is time for the second Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The action has now shifted to Delhi. India and Australia will now clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from 17th February 2023, Friday. The first day of the Test is scheduled to start at 9:30 AM.

In the first match of the series, India dominated the majority of the proceedings. The home side earned a rather convincing victory and would be looking to do the same. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has found form early in the series and so have the Indian bowling unit. The hosts will try and capitalise in the momentum they have with themselves and take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Meanwhile, Australia have a lot improve in the second match. They looked helpless in the first match against the Indian spinners. The Australian bowlers were also not able to find the right areas to get the Indian wickets. They have had a few days to regroup themselves and try to put on a better show in the next match.

With a spot in the finals of the World Test Championship on the line, both the teams will be giving their best on the field in the next five days. But before the match goes live and the exciting action begins let us look to some important stats, the prime player picks and the best predicted XIs for the fantasy contests of the match.

Ground Stats: Arun Jaitely Stadium, Delhi

The pitch at the Arun Jaitely Stadium will be good for batting in the first half of the match. Historically the pitch starts to breakdown quite quickly and by the time the fourth innings of the match arrives life becomes too difficult for the batters. However if only the perspective of the batters is considered, the second innings will probably be the best. The spinners will gradually come into play with the progression of the match. The captain winning the toss will look to bat first on the wicket.

IND vs AUS, 2nd Test: Top Picks

  1. Rohit Sharma (IND): On a pitch where the Australian batters were struggling to score runs, the Indian skipper looked in no trouble. Rohit Sharma scored a fine century and put India in a position of strength. He has found his form in the last match and will be looking to continue the momentum in this match as well.
  2. Steve Smith (AUS): The only Australian batter who scored a few runs in both the innings of the first match was Steve Smith. Though he struggled in the first innings, he looked the best of the lost in the last innings. Once again the visitors will hope that 'Smudge' carries them through in this match.
  3. Ravindra Jadeja (IND): The Indian all-rounder returned to the international scheme of things after a knee inury in the last match. But the fact that Ravindra Jadeja was not a part of the international set up for so long was not reflected in the way he played cricket. He did it all in the match, he was India's most valuable player with both the bat and the ball.
  4. Todd Murphy (AUS): The Australian off-spinner made his debut in the previous match. In the first innings, Todd Murphy was the most consistent and effective bowler. He picked up seven wickets and team Australia will be hoping that he continues his form.
  5. Ravichandran Ashwin (IND): The Indian off-spinner was seen at his best playing with the weakness of the Australian batters, especially in the fourth inning ss of the first Test. Ashwin will once again be lethal in this Test when the picth takes the toll of the match, and there is no way one can miss out on a wicket taker like him in the fantasy contests of the match.
