The second game of a doubleheader Fun-day Friday will see Sydney Thunder lock horns against Adelaide Strikers at the Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney.

After a nerve-wracking triumph in the opener of the competition, the Jason Sangha-led unit is back at their actual home ground for this encounter. The Sydney Showground Stadium missed hosting a BBL contest in the last two years due to the pandemic.

On the flip side, the Strikers have opened their account in their first game after thumping three-time champions Sydney Sixers by 51 runs.

Both sides have won a match in the tournament thus far and we shall quickly hover around the fantasy tips for this exciting clash.

Ground Stats

BBL Matches: 31

Matches Won by the team batting second: 15

Average 1st Innings Total in Last 5 T20 Matches: 157

According to the numbers above, the Sydney Showground Stadium seems to be uniform throughout the match. Bat first or bat second, one has to be at their best to edge past the opposition.

Three Must-Pick Players of the Match

  1. Rashid Khan- It shouldn’t be any wonder why Rashid Khan is on the list. The magician is a Strikers’ legend and has played some astounding cameos in the history of BBL. Moreover, it doesn’t side-effect his primary role i.e. his ‘art of leg-spin’. Rashid also bagged a three-for in the previous game.
  2. Gurinder Sandhu- Be it with the bat or the ball, Gurinder Sandhu can do the job for his team at the crunch moments. An example of the above statement can be witnessed in their last game against the Melbourne Stars.

Sandhu gets early purchase with the new ball and can also clear the long boundaries with ease. Henceforth he is a definite pick for building a fantasy team.
  3. Fazalhaq Farooqi- The left-arm Afghan seamer has been in phenomenal form in recent times. He is a skilful operator of the cricket ball, and his weapons include encapsulation of change-ups and varied angles. He can bowl perfect the yorkers and force the bumpers as well.

Worth the Risk Picks

  1. Matt Short: The allrounder is quite a utility player who can offer flying starts to the side. Short smashed 84 runs off 53 balls in the previous game against the Sydney Sixers. The opener has also been used as a weapon in the powerplay with the ball in hand.
  2. Alex Hales: Despite a low score in the previous game, Hales can be a real threat to any opposition. He had an upper hand in England’s triumph in the T20 World Cup and seemed to be in good touch. The swashbuckler blistered 383 runs in 13 innings in the last edition of BBL.
