We’re heading to the first doubleheader of the 12th edition of the Big Bash League and the primary contest will see Melbourne Stars squaring off against Hobart Hurricanes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Stars were at the receiving end of a defeat in a low-scoring thriller at the tournament opener. Meanwhile, the Hobart Hurricanes will be playing their first game of the competition and boast a quite formidable side on paper.

This is the first game of the tournament at the ‘G’ and we shall quickly look at the stats of the venue which is quite important to build a fantasy team.

Three Must-Pick Players of the Match

1.Adam Zampa: In the last 2 years, Zampa has been scalping wickets at the rate of 1.6/match. It is the highest by any BBL performer between the two teams battling in the contest. The leggie is the skipper of the team and would look to lead the Stars' from the front as he did in the last game.

2. Ben McDermott: A top-order explosive batter who is known to use the long handle really well, McDermott is one of the top fantasy picks for the particular game. The wicketkeeper batter garnered 577 runs from 13 innings in the previous edition of BBL with a strike rate of 153.87. Moreover, overall in the last two seasons, McDermott stockpiled 979 runs with an impressive strike rate of 147. This speaks volumes about his consistency.

3. Trent Boult: One of the finest left-arm pacers of the modern cricket generation, Boult is known for doing the talking with the new white cherry. He was tremendous in the previous game against the Sydney Thunder and bagged two wickets. Expect him to offer a good amount of fantasy points.

Worth the Risk Picks

1.Nathan Ellis: The uncanny operator made it into the limelight after bagging 20 wickets from 14 matches in BBL10. He has quite a lot of variations in his armoury and knows to use them effectively. It won’t be a surprise to see him fetch a lot of wickets in the slog-overs.

2. Nathan Coulter-Nile: A veteran of the Big Bash League, Coulter-Nile can be useful with both bat and ball. The conditions of MCG are quite pleasant for someone like him to break the backbone of the opposition. He bagged three wickets in the previous game against the Thunder and seems to be oozing confidence.

Hot Picks:

1.Ben McDermott

2. Adam Zampa

3. Nathan Coulter-Nile
