Punjab Kings owner, Preity Zinta isn’t one to hold back and she proved it again with a sharp response to an X user who tried mocking her for shelling out INR 18 crore on Yuzvendra Chahal at the IPL 2025 auction. When the user suggested that Punjab Kings went overboard with the leg-spinner’s price tag, Preity hit back with a fitting reply.
Preity Zinta’s Savagely Shuts Down A Troll On Yuzvendra Chahal’s IPL 2025 Price
The Punjab-based franchise bought Yuzvendra Chahal for INR 18 core. Then, they went all-in and also bagged Shreyas Iyer for a jaw-dropping INR 26.75 crore, making him the new captain.
Chahal’s INR 18 crore price tag made him one of the most expensive buys of the auction, having been released by Rajasthan Royals before Punjab pounced on the opportunity.
With all the chatter around Punjab Kings' spending spree, an X user suggested that Preity should’ve used Grok3, an AI tool, to make smarter auction decisions. Preity acknowledged that the franchise did use it, only for another user to sarcastically reply, "That explains Chahal for INR 18 crore."
Not one to let a comment slide, Preity clapped back with a sharp reponse:
"Since you are not paying, you shouldn’t be complaining. Sorry, couldn’t resist."
That was enough to shut down the criticism while showing that the actress-turned-team-owner has no regrets about her choices.
Meanwhile, with a fresh leadership setup and new coaching staff led by Ricky Ponting, Punjab Kings are clearly looking to turn their fortunes around after another disappointing season in 2024 where they finished ninth on the table.
Punjab Kings Squad for IPL 2025
With some major reshuffling, Punjab Kings will begin their campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 25 in Ahmedabad. Here’s how their squad looks:
Shreyas Iyer (captain), Priyansh Arya, Pyla Avinash, Xavier Bartlett, Harpreet Brar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Praveen Dubey, Lockie Ferguson, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Marco Jansen, Musheer Khan, Glenn Maxwell, Azmatullah Omarzai, Kuldeep Sen, Suryansh Shedge, Arshdeep Singh, Harnoor Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, Marcus Stoinis, Yash Thakur, Vishnu Vinod, Nehal Wadhera, Vijaykumar Vyshak.
With big money spent and a new look to their squad, Punjab Kings are hoping 2025 is finally the year they break their IPL curse. But will these expensive buys deliver the goods? That’s a million-dollar question only time will answer.
