One of the finest off-spinner ever, Ravichandran Ashwin, is returning to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025. The franchise teased his return in the new video posted on their social media handles.

CSK Welcomes Back R Ashwin In An Emotional Video

The veteran Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin who retired from all forms of international cricket in December 2024, will be returning to his beloved Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after 10 long years. The experienced spinner was bought by the Chennai-based franchise for a record sum of INR 9.75 crore in the recently concluded mega auction.

To celebrate his homecoming after 2015, the CSK side released an emotional video that celebrated R Ashwin's outstanding work. The team presented an almost two-minute video where they made Ashwin wear CSK's iconic jersey.

Ashwin, who last featured for Chennai Super Kings in the year 2015, will be returning to the franchise that showed faith in him initially. Ashwin spent a good 7 years at CSK before turning up for Rising Pune Super Giants, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

As per the records, Ashwin has featured in 212 IPL matches, where he has picked 180 wickets at an economy of 7.12 while averaging 29.82. Additionally, he has also scored 800 runs at a strike rate of 118.51 during his span of 15 years spent in the cash-rich league.

His international T20 numbers have been excellent, too, with 72 wickets in 65 matches at an average of 23.22, where his economy rate is outstanding at 6.90. The veteran said goodbye to international cricket after last featuring in the second Test against Australia, and his retirement came after the third Test in Brisbane had ended.

As for CSK, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led franchise will open their IPL 2025 season against their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on March 23rd at their home ground, M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, from 7:30 PM IST, which will be the third match of the upcoming season.
