Young Indian pacer, Shivam Mavi, known for his skills on the field, recently found himself in the midst of an unexpected controversy, one that veered far from the cricket pitch.

Mavi’s social media presence, specifically his Twitter account, became a hotbed of speculation and rumour. Fans and followers were taken aback when they noticed a stark shift in Mavi's online activities.

Historically, Mavi's Twitter likes echoed his interests in nature, spirituality, and sports. However, this pattern underwent a dramatic change on December 27. Suddenly, his account displayed a series of likes on risqué and suggestive photographs of well-known actresses and models.

This abrupt transition in Mavi's social media activity raised eyebrows and sparked conversations. The photographs liked by his account included those of prominent figures like Mrunal Thakur, Shriya Saran, Janhvi Kapoor, Ayesha Khan, Ketika Sharma and Divyansha Kaushik, deviating significantly from his usual online behaviour.

The sudden and uncharacteristic nature of these likes led to widespread speculation about the security of Mavi's Twitter account. Many believed that his account had been compromised, pointing to the drastic change in content as a clear sign of hacking. As a result of this controversy, Mavi's Twitter account was swiftly set to private, leaving the public to ponder over the authenticity of the activity on his profile.

Amidst this social media turmoil, Mavi's cricket career continues its upward trajectory. Lucknow Super Giants secured him for a whopping Rs. 6.80 crore in the Indian Premier League 2024 auction earlier this month. Mavi, who set his base price at Rs. 50 lakh, attracted intense bidding.

Initially bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs. 6 crore in the IPL 2023 auction, Mavi has been a sought-after player. Despite not participating in the IPL 2023 season due to an injury, his career statistics remain impressive, with 53 T20 scalps at an average of 26.50 in 52 games. Mavi's last appearance for the Indian team was in February 2023.
