Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik attracted eyeballs across the Indo-Pak border on Saturday (January 20) as he announced his second marriage with Pakistan actress Sana Javed, confirming speculations of his divorce from Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza.
Malik and Mirza tied the knot in 2010 and have a son. The couple had been in the news with reports and claims of them breaking the ties and taking a divorce since last year. However, after continuous denial, the famed pairing has now confirmed they are no longer together.
Malik posted his marriage images with Sana on his Instagram handle, triggering a wave of shock and disappointment for Indian fans of Mirza on this side of the fence and leading to reactions on social media.
Malik Ties Knot Again After Divorce With Sania
Notably, Malik has also left much to be speculated about his playing career. Having retired from Tests and ODIs since the 2019 edition of the World Cup, the veteran batter has time and again hinted he is interested in still playing T20Is for Pakistan if communicated well.
With his former teammate Wahab Riaz becoming the chief selector, there were expectations that Malik might be back in time for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup in June.
Malik, 41, who last turned up for Pakistan in November 2021, has played 124 T20Is with 2,435 runs at a strike-rate above 125, including nine half-centuries and a best of 75.
