India rising pace bowler, Akash Deep, has become the talk of the town, not just for his fiery bowling but also for his surprising singing talent. After making a mark in the second Test of the India vs England series at Edgbaston, a video of him singing has taken social media by storm.
Akash Deep got his big opportunity when star bowler Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the second Test match in Edgbaston. Stepping into the limelight, he didn’t disappoint. With the ball in hand, he bowled beautifully in England’s second innings, taking two crucial wickets; Ben Duckett and former captain Joe Root and putting India in a strong position.
Viral Video Shows A Different Side of Akash Deep
Soon after his impressive performance, a video went viral on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, showing Akash Deep singing a Bhojpuri song originally performed by popular singer-actor Pawan Singh.
In the clip, he’s seen holding a mic at a local event, confidently entertaining the crowd with his vocals, winning praise for his singing just as much as his bowling.
Meanwhile, talking about his performance on field, on Day 4 of the match, The 28-year-old played a crucial role as England ended the day at 72/3, with Akash bagging two out of those three wickets. But it didn’t end there.
On Day 5, despite rain delays early on, Akash returned with fire in his belly, picking up two more wickets in the first session. His relentless pace and accuracy put England in serious trouble as they chased a massive target of 608 runs set by India.
Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the young Indian team has outplayed England in all departments in this second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. While Ben Stokes’ England currently lead the series 1-0, India are now in a dominant position at Edgbaston.
