Actor Tamannaah Bhatia finds herself entangled in a legal saga involving the alleged promotion of illegal streaming of IPL 2024 matches on the Fairplay betting app. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has summoned her to appear as a witness in connection with this case.

Known for her roles in blockbuster movies like 'Baahubali' and 'Lust Stories 2', Bhatia has been asked to present herself for questioning on April 29.

Reports suggest that the promotion of a subsidiary app of the Mahadev online gaming and betting application, allegedly involved in the unauthorized streaming of IPL 2024 matches, led to the summons of Bhatia. This summons comes amidst a broader crackdown on illegal streaming activities, with the Maharashtra Cyber Cell taking decisive action.

Notably, Bhatia isn't the only prominent figure embroiled in this controversy. Fellow actor Sanjay Dutt was also summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on April 23 but couldn't appear due to prior commitments.

Dutt, like Bhatia, requested a rescheduled date to provide his statement, citing his absence from India at the time.

The legal battle against illegal streaming gained momentum with the Delhi High Court granting Viacom 18, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd, a dynamic injunction.

This injunction aimed to curb the unauthorized streaming of IPL matches on various websites, thereby safeguarding the interests of stakeholders and preventing significant financial losses, particularly to Viacom 18.
