Mosaddek Hossain’s brilliance steals the show

The Bangladeshi team suffered a humiliating defeat against Zimbabwe in the first match of the T20I series. It was important for the ‘Tigers’ to come back strongly in the second match and stamp their authority and that is exactly what they did.

The breakthrough decision: Much like the first match, in the second match also Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision from Craig Ervine was based on how his batting lineup batted the visitors out of the game in the first match scoring 205 runs in 20 overs.

But Nurul Hasan had something else in mind. Instead of using two faster bowlers to open the bowling like the first match, he used two spinners in this match. And this turned out to be a masterstroke as Mosaddek Hossain changed the course of the match at the very beginning picking up 5 wickets for just 20 runs in his 4 overs.

Although pitched as a batting all-rounder, the way Mosaddek bowled in the match showed that he understood the pitch, the opposition and his own limitations perfectly.

Well to get a clearer picture let us look at the line and lengths the man bowled in this match.

So, as the figure suggests he bowled mostly around the good length area.

The figure makes it clear that, Mosaddek has bowled a wicket to wicket line in his spell.

The stock ball for him in the match has been his off spinners.

Reading Mosaddek Hossain: The stats suggest that Mosaddek tried to be as close to the batter as possible. He did not provide any free space for them to score easily.

Also the fact that he depended mostly on his off-spinners shows that he was well aware of his limitations and operated within that. Just sticking to the basic is what he did brilliantly and it rewarded him and his team to the fullest.

Nurul Hasan will be looking forward to him in the next match, where the series will be decided, for another performance of similar level.
