Lately, the entire nation has heated up with the Waqf legislation debate, and West Bengal’s condition is sparking attention. As West Bengal faces harsh violence regarding the Waqf legislation, the protest is touching the sky.
As the entire state is firing up at this moment, former Indian cricketer and local Trinamool Congress MP of Murshidabad, Yusuf Pathan’s recent social media post sparked attention as the netizens took a harsh dig at him.
Pathan’s Social Media Post Sparks Criticism
A year back, former Indian player Yusuf Pathan started the second innings of his career, joining politics for Trinamool Congress as he was elected as the MP of the Baharampur constituency, one of the Murshidabad constituencies. In recent times, with West Bengal simmering over the new Waqf legislation, Pathan’s recent social media post has stirred controversey further, drawing sharp criticism.
In Murshidabad, the debate turned into violence, and the situation became serious as three people were killed amidst this protest. Amidst the chaos, former Indian cricketer and local MP Yusuf Pathan sparked controversy by posting some photos of himself sipping tea and captioning them as, “Easy afternoons, good chai, and calm surroundings. Just soaking in the moment.”
After the post had gone viral, the former Indian player faced harsh criticism. The netizens attacked the MP for his latest move. Many questioned his sense of responsibility toward his violence-hit constituency, accusing him of being out of touch during a critical moment.
BJP Hits Back At Him
Joining the wave of public outrage, the Bharatiya Janata Party also took a dig at Yusuf Pathan, holding him and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accountable for the escalating tension in West Bengal. Voicing against this, they made a social media post.
“Bengal is burning. HC has said it can't keep eyes closed and deployed central forces. Mamata Banerjee is encouraging such state protected violence as Police stays silent! Meanwhile Yusuf Pathan - MP sips tea and soaks in the moment as Hindus get slaughtered. This is TMC.” BJP shared on their social mdia handle.
Murshidabad, along with a few other districts, witnessed intense unrest as violence erupted across the region. Three people tragically lost their lives in this violence as one of them was a 21-old boy. Adding to this 18 policemen also got injured in this situation.
