In a significant development, young sensation Joel Davies has joined Sydney Thunder for the ongoing Big Bash League 2023

Head of Thunder Andrew Gilchrist revealed that Joel was on their radar as he was impressive in the under-19 championships.

Here's what Gilchrist stated

"Joel’s performances at the under-19 Championships confirmed he was a phenomenal talent, and through Ollie we know he comes from a good family. We’re thrilled to have him on our roster."

Notably, Joel Davies set the recently held under-19 National Championships on fire as he led NSW Metro to its fourth title since the state split into Metro and Country.

He hammered 458 runs across six matches at a magnificent average of 114.5 to finish at the head of the leading run scorer's list.

Meanwhile, Pakistani spinner Usman Qadir will likely debut for the Thunder in Tuesday's clash against Hobart Hurricanes.
