As India ushers in a new phase of T20 cricket, two young Delhi fast-bowlers, Mayank Yadav and Harshit Rana, will likely make their international debuts in the first T20I match against Bangladesh today (October 6) at Gwalior.

With seasoned fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj rested for the series, the team management is keen to give opportunities to young talent. Reports from Indian Express indicate that Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav are likely to receive their debut caps in this series, bringing new energy to India’s bowling lineup.

Will Harshit Rana And Mayank Yadav Receive Their Debut Call In First T20I?

It is important to mention that, earlier this year, Harshit Rana travelled with the rotated Indian team to Zimbabwe but missed out on a debut cap. However, his consistent performances and growing reputation have now brought him back into the squad, where he is poised to make an impact.

India’s newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir, is reportedly a strong advocate for Rana’s inclusion in the Indian team. He mentored Rana during KKR's winning season with in IPL 2024.

Mayank Yadav has generated buzz in domestic cricket and IPL 2024 with his raw pace and aggressive bowling style. He made headlines in his brief stint with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL, where he regularly clocked speeds around 150 kmph.

However, his season was cut short by injury after which he underwent a rigorous rehabilitation process at the NCA.

Recently cleared for match play by the NCA, this series against Bangladesh represents his first call-up to the Indian squad. Adding to the anticipation, Yadav is working closely with his former LSG coach, South African legend Morne Morkel, who has joined Gautam Gambhir’s coaching staff for the national team.

However, it will be interesting to see if the management will include the young bowlers in the playing XI.
