In a moment that blended rivalry with camaraderie, Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal and Delhi Capitals’ Mitchell Starc shared a warm embrace after DC’s thrilling Super Over win over RR in the IPL.
It marked their first interaction since their fiery on-field exchange during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. The wholesome exchange, captured in a video released by Delhi Capitals’ social media team, showcased the duo leaving past tensions behind.
Jaiswal And Starc Shake Off Past Banter
The video saw Starc conversing with Nitish Rana as Yashasvi Jaiswal approached him with a grin, greeting the Aussie speedster with a “Legend… Well bowled!” before asking, “How are you?” The two shook hands and shared a heartfelt hug, exchanging smiles as Jaiswal inquired about Starc’s experience in Delhi.
“How have you been enjoying the city?” the young Indian opener asked, to which Starc responded with a laugh, sealing the conversation with mutual respect.
The 'Coming Too Slow' Saga
The interaction carried added significance given their history. During the BGT’s Perth Test earlier, Jaiswal had cheekily taunted Starc after smashing him for boundaries, remarking, “It’s coming too slow.” Starc, known for his competitive edge, had responded with a wry smile, but the incident fuelled debates about the line between aggression and gamesmanship.
Months later, the IPL brought them face-to-face again, this time under lighter circumstances. While Starc’s DC emerged victorious in a nail-biting Super Over, the post-match camaraderie between the two players stole the spotlight.
DC Tops The Chart
Meanwhile, for the unaware, Mitchell Starc was the man of the hour for DC as he clawed back his team into the game defending 9 runs off the last over and forcing the match to a Super Over.
As DC grabbed the win, they now lead the points table with 5 wins out of their 6 matches. DC will next face Gujarat Titans on April 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
