Mumbai Indians hire Harmanpreet Kaur at INR 1.8 crores in WPL Auction

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur gets acquired by Mumbai Indians (MI) at INR 1.8 crores for the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2023) in the first-ever auction of the league.

The 33-year-old all-rounder is the first buy of the MI franchise in the WPL Auction, getting her after losing Smriti Mandhana to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Kaur is the first Indian women's cricketer to play over 100 T20Is and the first-ever female cricketer from the country to notch a century in the shortest format.

After 147 T20I games, she has amassed 2956 runs at an average of 28.15 and a strike rate of 107.2, with 9 centuries and a solitary century in the format.

The explosive batter is currently captaining India in the Women's T20 World Cup 2023, where the Women in Blue outclassed Pakistan in their tournament opener clash at the Newlands, Cape Town.
