World Cup-bound Bangladesh squad hit by Covid-19

The Bangladesh women's cricket for the World Cup has been hit by the Covid-19 after a cricketer and two officials have tested positive.

"A cricketer and two officials tested corona positive. They are in isolation and after eight days we will again have test and if they come out negative they will fly to New Zealand," BCB women's wing chairman Nadel Chowdhury confirmed to Cricbuzz.

The wicket-keeper Nuzhat Tasnia has been included as a traveling reserve in the squad as a precautionary measure.

The side is slated to begin the campaign against South Africa on March 5, 2022, in Dunedin. The tournament is scheduled to commence on March 4 with New Zealand taking on West Indies in the opener.

Jamieson, who had a strenuous year of cricket in the last couple of seasons has stated that he needs some time off to stay at home and improve his game. "Firstly, after the last 12 months, it's had its challenges with MIQs (managed isolation and quarantine) and bubbles and spending a fair amount of time in that sort of set-up. It was important for me, when I look at the schedule coming up over the next 12 months to try and find six weeks or eight weeks where I can spend some time at home,” Jamieson was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. The tall all rounder played a pivotal role in in NZ’s Test campaign in the first World Test Championship cycle is is expected to come good in the current cycle as well. "The second thing for me was, reflecting over the last 12-24 months and understanding that I'm very young in my [international] career and only two years in, that I wanted to have time to work on my game. I guess I didn't really feel like I was where I wanted to be and if I want to compete for spots in the New Zealand sides moving forward across all three formats, I actually need to spend time working on my game and not just trying to play the whole time. Yeah, for me it was just about time at home and just time to work on my game," Jamieson concluded.
