PSL 2022 | Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United| Match 10 Preview, Predictions, Fantasy XI

The 10th match of PSL 2022 will see Sarfaraz Ahmed's Quetta Gladiators lock horns with Islamabad United at the National Stadium in Karachi.

This will be an important game for both sides given the fact that they suffered a defeat in their previous fixtures respectively. It will be even more crucial for Quetta given that they have now lost two of their first three fixtures.

Their latest defeat came against Mohammad Rizwan's Multan Sultans as they became the first chasing side to lose in PSL 2022.

Ahsan Ali and Will Sameed have been the bedrock of Quetta's batting and while Ben Duckett showed his class in the last game (47 off 32 deliveries), the overdependence on the opening duo was exposed to the hilt, with skipper Sarfaraz's form being at the heart of it.

Ahmed played what turned out to an innings detrimental to his teams' cause as he hobbled his way to a 23-ball 21. Iftikhar Ahmed tried his best to make up for Ahmed's poor knock with a whirlwind 13-ball 30 but it eventually proved inadequate. Their batting will be bolstered with the addition of James Vince, who is set to play his first game of the season on Thursday. It remains to be seen who makes way for him.

The bowling too was lacklustre in the last game apart from Mohammad Hasnain (2/27 in 4 overs) and James Faulkner (1/22 in 4 overs).

Quetta will have to ensure that their bowling unit puts up a better show in the upcoming game as they will be up against a power-packed Islamabad United batting.

Alex Hales and Paul Stirling have already won Islamabad a game courtesy blistering knocks and with skipper Shadab Khan finding form in the last game (91 off 42 deliveries), it comes up for a fearsome top-4.

However, Islamabad would like their lower middle-order batsmen like Asif Ali and Azam Khan to come to the party.

The major issue for Islamabad though is their bowling. Their bowlers have lacked penetration and discipline and that is reflected in their stats thus far. Shadab has the best economy rate (7.12) but has managed 1 wicket in 8 overs.

Hasan Ali, on the other hand, has taken the most wickets (3) and has the best average (28.66) but his economy rate is 10.75. The duo will look to raise their game and plug holes in what looks like a very poor attack.

PSL 2022 | Dominant Lahore bury Peshawar by 29 runs to win two games in a row

Shaheen Shah Afridi’s Lahore Qalandars stormed past Wahab Riaz’s Peshawar Zalmi on Wednesday, 2 February to win back to back games in the Pakistan Super League. Qalandars, owing to Fakhar Zaman’s one more successful outing in the PSL this season, posted a huge total of 199 runs in the first innings. Zaman, who scored 66 off 38 balls, found support from Mohammad Hafeez (37 off 19) and Rashid Khan (22 off 8) down the order, who played great cameos to push the score to a near impossible feat. While the chase was always going to be difficult against a team that specialise in their bowling, Peshawar did not do themselves any favour by being fidgety with their strokes. They had the most awful of starts after Shaheen Afridi’s ripping yorker got the better of Hazratullah Zazai, one of Peshawar’s trump cards in the powerplay. Barring Kamran Akmal (41 off 24), who took on Rashid Khan in his first over, nobody else managed to put up a fight and Peshawar never really managed to get close to the total. Hussain Talat was one of the culprits of the day, scoring just 15 runs after playing 24 balls. Barring Shaheen Afridi, Zaman Khan was the star of the day, picking up two wickets in an over to break the partnership of a well set Akmal and Hussain Talat. The final two overs of the game saw the fall of four wickets, where Afridi picked up one and David Wiese two of them. The other one was a Haider Ali runout. The Namibian Wiese actually took a hattrick on the day in the final over, but the last wicket was reversed after an LBW review by the third umpire. Multitudes of catches fell on the day with balls popping out of the hands of several stars on the boundary lines. Miscommunications between the fielders also resulted in balls landing between 2-3 incoming fielders as well. With this win, Lahore moved up to the second spot in the league table with four points from three matches.
