Women's Asia Cup 2022: ACC unveils the schedule

The Asian Cricket Council on Tuesday announced the schedule for the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 that will take place in Sylhet, Bangladesh next month.

After successfully staging the men's edition of the Asia Cup 2022 in UAE, the Asian Cricket Council has unveiled the dates of the women's edition of the continental tournament.

Bangladesh are the hosts of Asia Cup 2022 which will be played in T20 format. India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Thailand, UAE, Malaysia, and Bangladesh are the seven participating teams that will be competing in the multi-nation event.

The news was broken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary and Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah on his official Twitter handle on Tuesday, September 20 including the full fixtures of the tournament.

A total of 21 matches will be played across two venues in the league stage. The two semifinals of the event will take place on 13 October while the final match will be played on 15 October. The hosts Bangladesh will lock horns with Thailand in the first game of the tournament before India takes centerstage in their opening clash against Sri Lanka.

The ninth edition of the Women's Asia Cup is scheduled to be contested at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium with the first five matches to be held at Outer Stadium and the next match will be held at the main ground of Sylhet International Stadium.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women's team will open their campaign against Sri Lanka on 1st October. India will meet arch-rivals Pakistan on October 7 in the Women's T20 Asia Cup, India women's team will play six league games in 10 days before the probable semifinals on either October 11 or 13th.
